Melisa’s first week in Texas

Melisa Karastoyanova is YES 2024-25 finalist. She arrived a week ago in McKinney, Texas and she is sharing with us her first impressions.

Hi,

I have been here for just a little bit more than a week and I already made amazing memories, I’ll remember forever! 

I am placed in Mckinney, a suburban city of Dallas, Texas. Mckinney is not a huge city but it’s full of people with huge hearts!

During my first week in America I got to do a lot of fun things and live the life I’ve always dreamt of! 

Thanks to my wonderful host parents, I had a welcome pool party on the second day here.

This week was also my first day of American high school and I assure you it is just like in the movies! It is so fun having all kinds of interesting classes and meeting different people all day!

I got to feel the school spirit too with a Pep rally and a football game on Friday! Even though I don’t quite understand the rules, it was one of the greatest nights in my life!

It’s been such a good week trying something new every day and exploring a new country with a totally different culture.

I can tell this year will be one beautiful experience.
