Black History Month: YES Alumni Bulgaria meets YES Abroad

In honor of Black History Month, this February our alumni community is organizing an online meeting with YES Abroad alumna Makana Brooks. They will talk about the importance of this month, issues the black community is facing nowadays, what more could be done to achieve equality around the world, and also about Makana’s experience as an exchange student in Bulgaria!

In Bulgaria, Makana attended the American College and volunteered at American Corner and refugee camps as an English teacher. After she returned back to the USA she worked for one year in NYC as a teacher-assistant with AmeriCorps. At the moment Makana is doing her bachelor degree at the University of Virginia.
